I've been having trouble, ever since I ordered this Laptop, with Windows 10.
SVCHost.exe will eat anywhere between 3GB and all 32GB of my RAM, the longer it runs the more it eats.
After about 3 hours my computer is noticeably slower, especially when gaming, and I'll check and see that SVCHost has 18GBs and usually using about 10-30% of my CPU. ![]()
I've done extensive research into this issue, and I've figured out WHICH SVCHost processes that are eating all the memory.
Svchost.exe High Memory Usage Windows 7 Solution
Service Host: Local System
-Windows Update
-Windows Push Notifications System Service
-Windows Management Instrumentation
-User Manager <----------THIS ONE ESPECIALLY because if I end it, the memory is no longer eaten up
-Themes
-Shell Hardware Detection
-Remote Desktop Configuration
-System Event Notification Service
-Task Scheduler
Svchost.exe High Memory Usage Windows Server 2016
-Remote Access Connection Manager
-User Profile Service
-Server
-IP Helper
-Certificate Propagation
-Application Information
Now almost ALL of those sound like things I can't just 'Stop/Disable'
I have however attempted it to make sure, and I can most definitely say one by one the biggest hit is the User Manager. Once ended and disabled in Services.msc RAM is free and games play and things are great...
Except my Start Menu, Taskbar and Windows Store Apps no longer work. I can't use Photos, I can't search windows, or open the start menu, I can click all the icons on the task bar and they are called up, but I can't right click and close them for some reason..
So why the **** is User Manager eating anywhere from 3GB to 32GB? IT DOES NOT NEED THAT!!!
Hello
Svchost.exe High Memory Usage Windows Server 2012 R2
I am having problems with svchost.exe on my laptop as it uses, at times, half my RAM (my RAM is quite small at 1G) and completely bogs down my computer making it sluggishly slow and likely to freeze if any programs are attempted to be opened. The highest I’ve seen the memory usage is 550(ish)MB but usually stays between at 300 and 400 MB.
Important note: It doesn't seem to use any excess CPU ( which is1.6GHz).
After surveying host on task manager I noticed it seems to have a pattern of starting at around 20MB and quickly climbs to 250MB then slowly climbs to its height of 450+MB then suddenly dropping to around 250MB, starts to climb and so on. This goes on until suddenly it drops to 150MB then gradually drops to around 15MB and stays there.
This all happen mostly just after I log on but can happen randomly afterwards. Over all it happens no more than 2 or 3 time on long sessions and sometime it might not occur at all.
How To Fix Svchost Exe
I dont know if this is connected but Norton says host is using 1Gig of memory in disk reading activities in these periods.
